The Salt Pig is a favourite in Wareham - good local food and drink, well cooked. Quite a quirky dining experience as the rooms are small and it is a farm shop by day. www.thesaltpig.co.uk

 If you want something rather special (and priced accordingly) then there is The Priory, with its beautiful waterfront garden and croquet lawn, appropriately set behind the church.

The Scott Arms, at Kingston (on the way to Worth Matravers) has a garden with fabulous view of Corfe Castle.

 

There is also The Granary, a Dorset chain of pubs owned by the Hall and Woodhouse Brewery (Badger Beer). Nice food and right on the river www.theoldgranarywareham.co.uk.

 

There are other places which would be a drive away, one particularly lovely place is in Worth Matravers www.worthmatraverstearoom.co.uk. This is about a 15 minute drive.

The Square and Compass, Worth Matravers (a very old fashioned pub still owned and run by a local family) serves pies, pasties, their own cider and has a fossil museum.  Check out the website for festivals and music nights

The Weld Arms, East Lulworth, is a cosy pub with good food and a large beer garden with modest play equipment, so good for kids.

At the Bankes Arms, Studland, they brew their own beer! The Isle of Purbeck Brewery. Good pub grub, great in the summer: they have a large beer garden.
